- Dried Valerian Root: 1-2 grams per 100 kg (220 lbs) of body weight, given twice daily.
- Valerian Root Extract (liquid): 5-10 ml per 450 kg (1000 lbs) of body weight, given twice daily.
Let me give you an Example
Example Dosage Calculation for Dried Valerian Root
Let's say you have a horse that weighs 500 kg (1100 lbs).
- Determine the horse's weight in kilograms: 500 kg
- Dosage per 100 kg: 1-2 grams of dried valerian root
Calculation: 500kg ÷ 100kg= 5
A kitchen scale should help weigh the proper amount.
Minimum Dosage = 5 grams
Maximum Dosage = 10 grams

Your horse won't leave you alone after you make this simple and tasty valerian root smoothie for him. "He's gonna -love it." Plus, it's easy to make and packed with calming ingredients. ;D
Ingredients
- 1 cup of Valerian Root tea (brewed and cooled) Or Dried Valerian Root powder. (see ingredients dosage in grams above)
- 2 Large carrots, chopped
- 1 apple, cored and chopped (see apple corer-slicer-peeler)
- 1 banana
- 1 cup of Organic Oats
- 1.5 T. of Raw honey
- 2 cups of water
Instructions
Prepare your ingredients. Start by brewing a strong cup of Valerian root tea, cooled. Then Chop the carrots and apples into small pieces. Slice the banana. In a blender combine all ingredients, using the water to help in the blending process.
Blend on High until you have a smooth consistency. You can pour the smoothie mixture directly into your horse's feed bucket.
Another way to give your horse his newfound treat is to pour the smoothie mixture into horse-shaped silicone molds and freeze it to give on hot summer days.
